Hervey Bay Photography Club was established in 2005, and provides a meeting place where photography enthusiasts can pursue an interest in photography, learn from each other, and experiment with new photography techniques and practices. Members support and help each other to become better photographers in whatever genre they are interested in. Guest speakers, workshops, group shoots, practical nights, and special events abound in our calendar every year.

Our members range in photographic experience from beginner to professional. We have members who have achieved photographic honours such as LAPS, AAPS, MAPS and PSQA and some of our members are accredited judges.  We also cater well to the beginner and foster their talents and assist them wherever they need help.  We are a well rounded club of various experience levels and all ages, so if you are just starting out and wanting to learn a bit more about photography I'm sure you'll find many helpful, friendly faces keen to lend some support. If you're an experienced photographer ready for new challenges, wanting to expand your experience into new genres, ready for the thrill and challenge of competition, then you too will find what you're looking for in our club.

If you are thinking about joining we welcome you to attend three meetings at no cost to get a feel of what we do and who we are, before committing to membership. This allows you an opportunity to observe a club competition, view the Digital Projected Images or Prints submitted for that competition by members, and hear critiques of those images from a judge.

We are affiliated with the Photographic Society of Queensland (PSQ), which allows our members to compete in interclub competitions with other clubs affiliated to the PSQ. Photographic honours can be won through competition, and our members are encouraged to enter competitions which can give them credits towards photographic honours.
